While the majority of Silport’s members are avid golfers, few are passionate about golf than Kenneth Jewsbury. The Australian commercial Director of the Dow Chemical Company in Asia for 29 years and 18 months in Shanghai now have been playing golf for 47 years and the passion still remains.

Away from the business, Kenneth Jewsbury can frequently be found at Silport on week-ends and week-days with friends or customers.

“As a teenager I played Rugby but it did not take me long to decide that non body contact sports give you a greater sporting longevity. I embraced golf and squash and now golf is my primary sport. I rarely practice golf but enjoy the scenic nature of golf. I always walk.”

Mr Jewsbury had the pleasure to live in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur before coming to Shanghai. “I probably have played the majority of good golf courses in Asia. I have played Spring City twice, and Tiger Beach once and would recommend both locations. My first game of golf in China was in 1985 in Beijing.”

The Australian native, member of Avondale in Sydney Australia praised the “ Silport friendly staff, caddies, quality of the food and the course layout. There is without a doubt Silport is of an international standard.”

Then about Silport course layout “The East course has an easy opening hole and a great finishing hole. Likewise the West has an easy opening hole . Both North and Centre have tough opening holes. There is no doubt the North Course when it matures will be the premier 9 holes. I like the bent greens on the North course.”
