Shanghai: Love was in the air at Silport as 45 couples – or 90 players – contested the annual Best Partner Cup on the club’s East and Center courses.

Playing under a better-ball format, the round started out under sunny conditions as married couples, lovers, boyfriend and girlfriends, siblings and others teed off from a shotgun start. As the skies became increasingly cloudier as the round went on, rain hit the proceedings in the last few holes providing a wet finish to a wonderful afternoon.

On the day, Cui Guanghui and “Ms Eva” topped the field to win the honor of Best Partner. They were followed by the teams of Chen Zhangning and Lie Qiong, Zhou Zhe and Shi Ming, Lin Longhui and Chen Zaaohui, Liu Hongxin and Li Hui and Wu Mingbo and Ms Jing.

Chen Guoyin and Li Liyun received the Best Cooperation award, with Lin Jia and Lin Li and Lu Zaohui and Sun Li as the runner-up teams.

Sun Hongxing pulled off one of the most impressive feats of the day when he executed a 330-yard drive in John Daly-like fashion to win the long drive prize with a Mizuno club on the Center ninth hole. Liu Hongxin and Zhang Leiming also won long drive prizes.

Other honors saw Lu Zaohui and Hong Xiaoyan capture nearest-the-pin prizes, while the couple of Huang Zhongmao and Chen Xiaoxiao were named best dressed for their stylish ensemble of white polo t-shirts and matching slacks.
