Shanghai: Scorching conditions marked the inaugural event of the Dong Feng Honda (Civic-CRV) Cup 2008 Golf Elite Tour at Silport as a field of 91 people teed off over the West and North courses.

Playing under the New New Peoria scoring system, the event, featuring Dong Feng Honda vehicle owners and invited VIPs, was the first of six tournaments to be played around the country. Other legs were to be contested in Beijing, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, all considered key cities for car sales.

While the conditions on the course were hot for everybody, Lu Meiping absolutely scorched the field when she dominated the play with a pro-like performance. Lu shot a two-under 70 to win the low gross championship, well ahead of runner-up Chen Jian with an equally impressive 78. Liang Xiaodi also registered an outstanding performance for the ladies with a 78, but finished second runner-up in the gross category by virtue of her lower handicap.

For an indication of how well Lu was playing, she also claimed one of the two longest drive prizes with Tan Guoping as both registered 285-yard blasts.

Other honors saw Zheng Xiao win the nett champion prize as the 10.8 handicap shot an 83 for a nett 72.2. Huang Haifeng (nett 72.8) and Cheng Chang (73.8) were runner-up and second runner-up respectively.

Other winners saw Song Tiejun and Tan Guoping each claim a nearest-the-pin prize.
