Shanghai: The June monthly medal drew 32 Silport members out for this new competition as there has been great interest in this tournament where the grand finale will determine the first club champion at year-end.

Playing over the East and Center courses under cloudy conditions, Qing Guorong, an 11 handicap, shot an impressive four-over 76 to win the gross champion of group A honor. Runner-up for the group was Ma Qiyang who posted a round of 85 and also claimed the long-drive prize with a mighty blast of 270 yards.

The gross champion of group B proved a tight battle as Lin Shengwen and Chen Qinglong each carded a round of 89. When the scores were added up, Lin was declared the winner by evidence of his 23 handicap to Chen’s 22.

The other honor on the day saw Lai Yongxian win the nearest-the-pin prize when he put his ball to within seven feet of the flag.

With their strong performances, Qing, Ma, Lin and Chen all advanced to the year-end final to determine the inaugural Silport club champion.
