Shanghai: The competition at Silport’s July monthly medal proved just as hot as the weather as 30 players vied for the honor of qualifying for the grand final that will determine the inaugural club champion.

Playing over the West and North courses under sunny and scorching conditions, Yang Fanglin qualified for the year-end final when the 12 handicap carded a 10-over 82 to emerge as the group A champion. Ma Qiyang, who won the long-drive contest and had already qualified for the final in an earlier medal, finished runner-up following a round of 86.

Other highlights saw Ju Minshi and Chuan Dao Guangwen stage an epic battle in group B as both posted a round 98. Ju, however, emerged the victor by virtue of his higher handicap.

Chen Jing made sure the ladies were not shutout among the prizes as the 13 handicap claimed the nearest-the-pin prize during her impressive round of 84. Hyung Hahn was the lucky draw winner.

Yang, Chen, Ju, Yuan and Hyung now qualify for the monthly medal’s grand final at the end of the year.
