Shanghai: Silport¡¯s golf-mad Japanese members dominated the club¡¯s August monthly medal as players from the ¡°Land of the rising sun¡± emerged champions in both the Group A and Group B categories.

With 33 players competing under sunny skies over Silport¡¯s West and North courses, the tradition of stretching and warming up prior to teeing off in the hot conditions was once again practiced to avoid any on-course injuries. The exercise proved fruitful for Toba Hidenori as the 18 handicap shot a 13-over 85 to claim the Group A champion honor. Nan Tingyin finished runner-up.
In Group B, Noda Tadashi and Takabayashi Hiroka, both played to their 22 handicap and shot identical rounds of 94. Tadashi, however, emerged the victor by virtue of his 29 putts at the last five holes on the west course, one less than Hiroka.
PToba Hidenori added to the Japanese assault when he captured the long drive honor with a 250-yard blast on the North Course sixth hole. Also honored was Li Renhao the nearest-the-pin winner, and M.S. Tsai who won the lucky draw.

The general consensus among those playing in the monthly medal for the first time was that it was the best competition Silport had offered. The club¡¯s service was also praised. The participants felt they were very fortunate to be Silport members and expressed their gratitude to the club for arranging the opportunity to get together with the other players and make new friends.
