Shanghai: Silport members got the opportunity to demonstrate their short-game skills at the Summer Membership Invitational when about 70 players turned out for this fun and challenging event.
Playing under a New Peoria scoring format over the North and West courses, the tournament was made even more difficult under the condition that participants could only use seven clubs which was included a seven-iron and putter in their round.
The limited club selection proved no problem for Chen Zhang Ning as the 7.2 handicap emerged the Gross Champion with an impressive round of seven-over 79 in the sunny weather.
The battle for the Nett Champion proved fierce as Pan Yong Chun, a 10.8 handicap, pipped fellow 10.8 handicap Fu Zhong by a stroke with a round of 82 and a nett 71.2 for the crown. Huang Lixin, a 15.6 handicap, shot an 88 for a nett 72.4 and the nett second runner-up.
Korean member Hae Hahn captured the women¡¯s Nett Champion honor when the 25.2 handicap shot 101 for a nett 75.8.
Other prizes were given out to Japanese members Mr Wakisaga and Mr Kakehashi for the nearest-the-pin and long-drive honors respectively.
The after party proved a huge success for all the participants with the abundance of prizes on offer. Among the sponsors donating goods and services were Huaqiao Doubletree Hilton, Formby¡¯s Run, Baodao Optical, Pro-Simon and Acqua Di Parma. |
