With the weather warming up and the sunny shining, the combination of the two proved to be a strong draw as 50 members came out to contest the April Monthly Medal.
With the general consensus being that spring had finally arrived after a long, cold weather, the agreeable conditions injected some excitement into the field as they teed off over the North and West courses.
Hwang Chao Cheng emerged the star player of the day when the nine-handicap shot an 81 for a nett 72 and the nett champion Group A (handicaps one to 18) honor, just ahead of Uchida Ryoji (nett 73).
In Group B (handicaps 19 and above), Japanese members Nakashima Kiyoo (87) and Arashi Hideya (89) each finished with nett 67, but it was the former claiming the nett champion honor by virtue of his lower score.
Others honored saw Korean member Jeong Tae-jun win the longest drive when he unleashed a 235-yard blast on the West Course 9th hole, while Urabe Hisashi took the nearest-the-pin prize.
At the ceremony following, the players were eligible for a host of prizes such as a first-class round-trip air ticket from Shanghai-Sanya, courtesy of Shanghai Airlines, a Mizuno putter, Formby wines and a PF whey tech gift set, among others.
