Shanghai: China: The Martell Elite Cup attracted a record number of competitors as 134 players teed off at Shanghai Silport for the country’s largest Best Partner tournament.

Playing under sunny skies and perfect conditions on Silport’s Center and East Course layouts, the pairing of Peng Long De and Zhou Xiong Qun proved to be a formidable force. Playing under a best ball format, both captured two of the four nearest-the-pin categories in the men’s and ladies’ categories respectively, powering their team to a gross 71 and the low gross championship.

Other winners included Liu Hui Jun and Eva Sun who only needed a mere 20 putts during their round to win the putting championship while Gu Hong Ren captured the long drive contest with a near 300-yard blast on the Center fifth hole.

Other nearest-the-pin honours went to Cheng Zhangning and Beijiang An in the men’s section and Cui Xi Xian and Lu Zhen Zhen in the ladies. Jack Huang, Silport’s vice general manager also presented a special prize to couples Chen Zhang Ning and Luo Hui Er, Charlie Lin and Zhang Chen and Johnson Lau and Monica Sun honoring them for participating in the tournament for the past three years.

After the event, a group of Martell models provided participants with a taste of the company’s famed cognac. There was also displays from the other sponsors: Air France, Callaway Golf, the Mentholatum Company, Golden Bear, Galaxy 1 apparel, the Golf Show and Tittot glassware.
