Shanghai,

test their competitive mettle when the club staged its second tournament
of the year, the Summer Cup.
The tournament was the first in some months at the club after the
SARS outbreak earlier in the year had virtually put a halt to all
competitive play.

Jack Huang, Silport’s vice general manager, said the conditions
were ideal for tournament golf and he was encouraged by the strong
turnout.
“Tournaments for our members are a regular part of life
at Silport. The SARS outbreak really put a hold on all that and
I could tell by the enthusiasm of everybody involved that they
were really anxious to get out and test their games in a competitive
environment. There will be more tournaments,” he said.
