Shanghai:
Forbes magazine and the Join-In Group celebrated the launch of
the Forbes Elite Club in style in hosting a tournament at Shanghai
Silport.
The famed business publication invited 62 guests
to experience Silport’s Championship Course which is currently
being prepared for the upcoming Volvo China Open on November 25-28.
As with the expert business advice Forbes imparts
in its various publication, it also provided such expertise in
the golf realm in the form of Zhang Lianwei. The China number
one who captured his country’s national championship at Silport
last year, played the par-three 17th and par-five 18th with each
of the guests as VIP coach, providing tips to improve their game.
Zhang also joined with Forbes China publisher Ken Shi later that
night at a gala dinner held at Silport to toast the new venture.
On hand for the festivities that featured dancers, a magic show
and an energetic violin quartet, were representatives from sponsors
Lacoste, TCL Mobile, TaylorMade and the Tsinghua University School
of Economics and Management in Beijing.
On the course, Guo Hou De was the big winner on the day as the
13.2 handicap shot a 12-over 84 for nett 70.8 and the low nett
prize. Liu Man Tian finished runner-up with a nett 71.4, followed
by Fu Jie Ren with a nett 74.6.
A Mercedes Benz that was on offer for a hole-in-one went unclaimed.
