Shanghai: Silport
had the opportunity to host the best amateur golfers in the city
when the club served as the host venue for the final of the 2005
Johnnie Walker Interclub Championship.
After pre-qualifiers were staged at each of the 10 clubs participating
during March and April, five players advanced from each club to
the final which was held on the club’s Championship layout.
Liu Deqing served notice that competition is a highly important
element at Shanghai’s newest golf venue, Sheshan Golf Club, when
he captured the event with a nett 66 in the tournament which was
played under blue skies and warm conditions.
Anil Advani, one of the best players among the local business
community and a perennial winner in the FPD Savils Elite golf
tournaments, finished runner up with a nett 68 while representing
Binhai Golf Club. Kim Seung-hyun added to the Sheshan glory when
he finished third with a nett 69 in the competition which was
first held in Guangdong in 1991.
For his achievement, Liu received a trip to attend the upcoming
2005 Johnnie Walker Classic being held at the Beijing Pine Valley
Golf Resort & Country Club.
Among the other clubs competing were Lake Malaren, Tianma, Sun
Island, Shanghai Links, Shanghai International, Kunshan SunIsland,
Grand Shanghai and Shanghai West. |
