Shanghai: The Shanghai Nordic Chamber of Commerce celebrated the
arrival of spring in style by staging its annual golf party with
a return to Silport.
Playing over Silport’s East and West layouts, Andreas Engstrom
proved to be the top player on the day among the 84-man field
made up of expatriates from Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
Playing close to his 20.4 handicap, Engstrom carded a 19-over
91 to register a nett 70.6, winning the low nett honor. He also
backed up his strong play off the tee in capturing the longest
drive. For his efforts he received a gift pack courtesy of Scandinavian
Airlines.
Mattias Arfeldt proved the strongest golfer in the field when
he shot a 10-over 82 to claim the low gross prize. He was rewarded
with a business class flight ticket from Shanghai to Helsinki
courtesy of Finnair. Eeva Haarla-Perttu, the local representative
for the Finnish national carrier, presented the prize to Arfeldt
and then returned to the podium twice more when she claimed the
best female player and a nearest-the-pin honor.
Among the other prize winners were Mathias Hallgren and Hannu
Hakakari who won nearest-the-pin honors and Fredrik Karnsby who
won the other long drive prize.
