Shanghai: Audi took the opportunity to drive home the automaker¡¯s
commitment to golf when it hosted a corporate day at Shanghai
Silport for 66 representatives of its dealerships around China.
With the Audi Quattro Cup having developed into one of the world¡¯s
largest amateur golf circuits since its inception in 1991, Audi
senior marketing manager Miriam Mayer said it was important to
instill into its dealership representatives the role that the
game played as a marketing and networking tool for the German
automaker. She explained that the qualifying tournaments were
being held in China for the second year and that the two country
winners would be going to Scottsdale, Arizona, in late October
for the World Final at Troon North Golf Club.
Following a training session where the rules, history and traditions
of golf were explained to the group, the uninitiated players repaired
to the driving range for a lesson. For 10 delegates who had played
the sport before, they were treated to a very special round over
Silport¡¯s Championship Course accompanied by two-time former world
champion table tennis player Jiang Jialing and gymnastic great
Ma Yanhong.
True to form, Ma, a gold medallist at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics
and the first ZH to become a world champion in the sport,
demonstrated that her athletic form was still evident when she
shot a nett 64 to claim the low nett honor.
