Shanghai:
Taiwanese personal computer and notebook manufacturer Compal and
Jiangsu Province¡¯s Yixing City marked the start of what will likely
be a beneficial relationship when they co-hosted the Compal-Xinning
Cup Golf Invitational for 58 top IT managers from Taiwan, Hong
Kong, Singapore, Japan and the mainland.
The two groups held the tournament to celebrate the opening of
the Yixing City¡¯s Xinning High-Tech Industrial Park where Compal
has recently put its new factory into production.
Playing on Silport¡¯s Center and East courses under sunny conditions,
20.4 handicap Duan Yezhong shot an 89 to claim the low nett honor
with a score of 68.6. Chen Mingfeng was runner up with a nett
69, followed by Lee Ruijin with a nett 69.8.
Other winners included Keesin Ng, Woo Wenbin, Ivan Shum and LS
Wu who each won a nearest-the-pin prize. For their achievements,
each received a beautiful ceramic, the specialty product of Yixing,
a city that known as the home of pottery in China.
At the award ceremony after the golf, Wang Zhongsu, deputy mayor
of Yixing People¡¯s Government, and Zhang Guoan, Compal China¡¯s
general manager, each thanked the players for their participation
and called the tournament an excellent starting point for teeing
off what will undoubtedly be a fruitful relationship.
