Shanghai: Marriott Hotels provided a helping hand for the welfare of children when it staged the ˇ°Safe Kids Chinaˇ± charity golf day at Silport.
Organised by six Marriott hotels in the Shanghai and Suzhou areas, the event attracted 85 players for a worthy cause that is part of a worldwide concern. Safe Kids China is an international member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a coalition of community partners that works to prevent accidental death and injury to children 14 and under. The organization empowers families and communities to ˇ°educate adults and children; create safe environments; conduct research and advocate for effective laws.ˇ±
With a field made up of players from Europe, the United States, South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong, Huang Haidi, Xu Zhanhong, Liu Lu and Sun Hongxing banded together to post a gross 61 under the team scramble format.
Huang proved a double winner on the day in capturing the longest drive prize, while Masuda Michihiko earned the nearest the pin honor.
At the gala dinner following the tournament, the Marriott Group donated a check for 24,000 RMB (about US$3,000) to Safe Kids China. The lucky draw generated huge excitement among the guests as the prizes included one-night stays at the JW Marriott Shanghai and Renaissance Suzhou hotels, a Hong Kong package tour with accommodation at the Hong Kong Marriott Hotel and a luxury golf package for Sanya, Hainan Island.
