Shanghai: Silport had the pleasure of hosting a leg of the Audi Quattro up as the world¡¯s top amateur tournament series staged its seventh event of the year in the city.
Playing on the Championship Course (Center and West course layouts) from a shotgun start, Liu Bo and Lin Hui teamed together to top the 100-man field and claim first place in the four-ball, better-ball format. Huang Hai Di and Xu Zhan Peng were runner-up, followed by Chen Zhangning and Peng Yu Ye in third. All three teams qualified for a national playoff to be held later this year.
The Audi Quattro Cup that started in Germany in 1991 with 51 tournaments around the country, has since grown into a global concern. Last year, the luxury carmaker organized about 700 tournaments in 40 countries with more than 80,000 players participating. Last year¡¯s grand finale was held in November at Troon North in Phoenix, Arizona, with a South African team claiming the top honor. A team from mainland China featuring a Y. Zhang and L. Deng did the Asian region proud in finishing third overall. This year¡¯s grand final will be held October 8-12 at The Grove club in England. |
