CHAMBER CELEBRATES 10TH YEAR WITH HANGSENG TOURNAMENT


 

    Shanghai: The Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 10th anniversary in Shanghai by hosting the Hangseng Bank Cup at Shanghai Silport. Li Deji topped the 40-man field when he shot a 5-over 77 to earn the low gross honor. Zhu Wenjie proved the big winner of the day as he captured the low nett honor (nett 72) and took home one of the long-drive prizes. Yu Peixiong was also a double winner in capturing both a longest drive and a nearest-the-pin.

    Other long drive winners included T.K. Lai and K.W. Ho, while Reny Chan, Terri Lau and Tan Jianguo each had a nearest-the-pin.

    Johnson Fu, president of the Hangseng Bank in China, said the purpose of the event was to give chamber members a better opportunity for communication.

    ˇ°The Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce has laid a good foundation for the cooperation of business between the enterprises of Shanghai and Hong Kong. It has created a positive effect for promoting business between the two. We hope that the cooperation between the enterprises of Shanghai and Hong Kong can strengthen through this event.ˇ±

    At the gala dinner following the tournament, Silport member Mike Yeung, the local HSBC manager and the chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, told the 85 guests assembled that great strides had been achieved by the group in its first decade in Shanghai. ˇ°We will try our best to promote more trade and cooperation between the two cities and create more opportunities for our members,ˇ± he said.
