Olympian Yang Yang Lends Starpower to Dow Chemical Golf Day

On September 21, Dow Chemical held its Golf Day at Shanghai Silport Golf Club as a way of extending their thanks to Greater China clients. Over 100 players took part in the event, and the presence of Olympic Champion Yang Yang created quite a stir. Yang¡¯s win of two gold medals at the 2002 Winter Olympic games in Salt Lake City (in the 1,000-meter and 500-meter skating events) made her the first ZH female to win Winter Olympics gold. In January 2003, Yang Yang streaked her way to six gold medals at the Tenth Winter Sports games in China. Shortly thereafter, she won three gold medals for China at the Asia Winter Games.

At Dow Chemical Golf Day, Yang Yang joined other players for a round of golf. ¡°Unlike the competitions I¡¯ve participated in, golf is very focused on teamwork. Even during the game, team players will chat and share happy moments in high spirits,¡± she noted.

The team led by captain Brett Simpson were the winners, with an overall score of 68 and a net of 56.25. Ian Barbour¡¯s team was first runner-up, followed by the team headed by Danny Lin. An awards presentation followed, where Yang Yang expressed her appreciation of Dow Chemical¡¯s tremendous support and sponsorship of the Olympic Games. She also treated the audience to an overview of her personal sports achievements.
