On October 22, six Marriott Hotels & Resorts throughout Shanghai and Suzhou sent their management elite and guests to the Safe Kids China Charity Golf Day at Shanghai Silport Golf Club. This charity golf tournament, the latest in a succession of events at Silport that include the Shanghai Mercedes-Benz and the American Chamber of Commerce tourneys, was even larger in scale than last year¡¯s event.
In honor of the tournament¡¯s special ¡°Playing for Charity¡± theme, all the guests came up with generous donations. One especially kind woman even bought 10 charity coupons in one swoop; her good deed evidently brought her some very good luck as she won a lucky draw prize¡ªtwice! Marriott did the good deed of contributing all proceeds from the event¡ªsome RMB20,000 in all¡ªto the Safe Kids China organization¡¯s local branch. The mission of Safe Kids China, part of a global network, is to lower the rate of accidental injury and death among China¡¯s children under 14. Accidents constitute the main cause of child fatalities in China, and via a series of programs focused on information, education, experimentation and law-making, Safe Kids China aims to change this, so that every family is ensured of a higher degree of safety and happiness.
Representatives from the Shanghai JW Marriott Hotel, Shanghai Renaissance Pudong Hotel, Shanghai Marriott Hongqiao Hotel, Shanghai Renaissance Yangtze Hotel, Shanghai Courtyard Marriott Hotel, and Suzhou Renaissance Hotel presented prizes to the winning golfers. Emmanuel Beydon and Keith Chen won in the categories of ¡°longest drive¡± and ¡°nearest to the pin,¡± respectively. What¡¯s more, Chen¡¯s team were also the leading all-around winners, followed by the Ben Avancena team.
