On October 28, the HSBC Future Champion Training (Shanghai Leg), HSBC was held at Shanghai Silport Golf Club. This event, organized by the China Golf Association, welcomed 16 junior players and 16 instructors (as recommended by the China Golf Association) to benefit from the teachings of professionals from the world-renowned David Leadbetter Academy. On hand to guide the group were Shanghai Silport David Leadbetter Golf Academy director Gareth Winslow and Mission Hills David Leadbetter Golf Academy director Paul Hoad.
The purpose of the Future Champion event is to promote and develop golf by training China¡¯s young players. Shanghai was the final stop for the event, after Beijing, Chengdu and Shenzhen.
Zhang Xiao Ning, secretary general of the China Golf Association said: ¡°Last month, the HSBC Future Champion Training program traveled over 4,000 kilometers to provide professional training for golfers in Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Shanghai. This is part of the cooperation between the China Golf Association and HSBC, and through this program, the skills of junior golfers and instructors have been improved. It is also a great contribution to the development of golf in China.¡±
The President of Operations for HSBC in China added: ¡°We are pleased to hold this event in Shanghai prior to the HSBC Championship Tournament. China has been an important part of HSBC¡¯s program for the popularization of golf. We hope to contribute to the long term development of golf in China.¡±
Some of golf¡¯s most promising junior players and instructors will attend the HSBC Championships in Shanghai. The finals of the HSBC Future Champion Training takes place on November 13, with further training from David Leadbetter Golf Academy instructors.
