On March 22, Hangseng Greenland Cup staged the first leg of its East China series at Silport Golf Club. The tournament was a run-up to the VOLVO China Open, which will take place April 12-15. Course conditions at Silport were, as they say, ¡°par for the course,¡± and services were ideal for the Cup, as was the perfect spring Shanghai weather. No complaints were heard from golfers, 90 of whom showed up to play for five exciting hours of competition. In the end, Gross Champion was snatched by Long Quanwen (nicknamed ¡°The Cyclone¡±), and Yang Weiqing was the Net Champion (known as ¡°Clover Lamb¡±). Nearest to the Pin was won by female duffer Shi Min (¡°Little MuYu¡±). Longest Drive winner was Tiger Huang, president of the group and former chief of the East China branch (key sponsor of the event). During the awards presentation ceremony, the new session council took the stage to announce the donation of event proceeds to Project Hope, and also introduced the recent establishment of the Ladies Golf Group.
