On May 31, Shanghai Silport was the site of the Land Rover Golf Tour Classic 2007, an exciting event sponsored by Golf Tour Website. Enthusiastic players arrived as early as 10:30 am, each and every one of them armed with big smiles, plenty of clubs, friends and business partners, and, most importantly, loads of confidence.

The tournament began with a bang at 12:15 sharp, and after four hours of grueling play, the players all made their way back to the clubhouse chattering excitedly about their hard-won high scores. In the end however, the day’s tale was told when Xu Xiaoqing won Gross Champion with a score of 75.

Zheng Jianwu enjoyed his place as runner-up with 79, while Liu Hongxin placed third with nearly the same score. Net Champion awards went to Liu Xuanhao (72.6), Zhu Xiaoliang (72.8) and Xu Lingyun (73.2). The prize for Longest Drive went to Zheng Jianwu, and Wu Xin won Nearest to the Pin.

Another spectacular highlight of the tournament was 11-year-old Zhu Xiaoyu, who finished in truly fine style with an 89. Other players praised the young female golfer effusively with a huge round of applause as the tournament organizers awarded her with a special Best Participant prize.

The awards ceremony took place at dinner that night amid an atmosphere of exhilaration, where, in addition to player awards, every participant had a shot at the lucky draw prizes. Later, the evening of pleasure and comraderie was beautifully capped off when Xu Xaoqing accepted the day’s most coveted award of Gross Champion. This lucky and talented player won a 5-day golf package in Saipan.

The final leg of the Land Rover Golf Tour Classic 2007 will be held at the stunning Lao Bai Club in Saipan, a jewel of the tropics, in early 2008. There, 20 gross champions from other competitions held in Shanghai and Beijing will compete for the overall title.
