Shanghai: The 2007 Golf Friendship Tournament of the International Chamber held at Silport proved a huge success when the annual event drew a field of 150 players as well as top business people from around Shanghai and the neighboring provinces.

Under a theme of “fashion, health, openness and business”, the prestigious event was co-sponsored by Zhejiang Businessman Magazine, Hutchison Whampoa Property, and other famous enterprises.

As the guest started to arrive early in the morning for the 11am tee-off, the suits quickly came off and golf apparel was donned for the occasion as the visitors warmed up for the task at hand with a trip to the driving range.

Following a speech by Mo Yun, Zhejiang Businessman general manager, Yang Jinghui, senior marketing manager of Hutchison Whampoa Property, teed off the event by driving a colored smoke ball down the first fairway.

With the conditions ideal for golf, Wang Zhengxing took advantage to shoot a six-over 78 and win the low gross, one shot ahead of Chen Guoxun. Jiang Mingxing finished five shots further back.

The low nett was equally close as Yao Qin registered a 74.4, just ahead of Huang Wuwei with 75. Chen Xiao was third with a nett 75.2.

Xiao Yan scored one for the ladies when she won the long drive on the Center No. 9 holes, while Zhou Zuping claimed the nearest-the-pin on the East No. 3.

As the players and officials gathered in Silport’s upstairs dining hall following the golf, He Zhenming, general manager of the Zhejiang Businessman Shanghai branch, Yang Guobao, CEO of Shanghai Qianli Trading, and Hutchison Whampoa’s Yang all came to the stage to deliver speeches.

With the speeches over, the party really started when hot Latin and Flamenco dancers and a ZH violinist took to the stage in a memorable display of entertainment.

Following the performances, Zhejiang Businessman’s He invited Jin Zhaomin, Shanghai Charity Foundation vice secretary-general, where he presented her with a RMB 5000 donation to the worthy cause.

The evening ended with a rendition of the famed ZH song “Friends”.
