Shanghai: Mr. He Bin capped off a memorable year when he hosted a day of golf and celebration at Silport for 50 of his closest friends to mark his first ever hole-in-one earlier this year.

The avid golfer made his first ace on the Silport North Course 158-yard sixth hole one to remember on March 28 when the 10 handicap won his weight in wine from Diagio, the liquor and wine giant that owns Johnnie Walker Black Label scotch, for his spectacular feat.

After the day of golf over the East and Center courses finished, the guests repaired upstairs to the Silport dining room where the wine, 36 bottles in all, flowed freely. He said he had been playing golf for 12 years and getting the perfect score was one of his three goals for the year. The second was to play the St. Andrews Old Course, something he did when he joined other Silport members on the club’s annual trip to Scotland. His other goal, however, fell short when he did not register a score in the 60s, something he will continue to pursue.

He said he was happy to record his first ace at Silport, a club he first played seven years ago, and to be able to share the moment with his friends.

“Silport is a special course to me. It has a top course condition and the caddies are very professional. The club is also very well managed and I always enjoy joining the many events that are held here for the members.”
