Shanghai: Silport had the honor of acting as host of the HP 16th SMGA Business Golf Meet as 116 associates and suppliers of the U.S computer giant participated in this tournament that takes place twice yearly as a prelude to its company meetings.
The selection of Silport to host the event was significant as Hewlett-Packard, a global manufacturer of computers, laptops, digital cameras, printers, scanners, software, monitors and projectors, among others, has a designated ˇ°golf juryˇ± to decide where each tournament is held. Each year, it selects a different club to hold this important golf meeting that brings together HP management, suppliers and associates.
Playing in sunny skies under a Stableford point system over the Center and East courses, the same configuration that hosted the 2007 Volvo China Open, Robin Chen, an 18 handicap, topped the table with 43 points, four clear of joint runners-up Harris Chen, Ang Moh Chuan and Sim Beng Chye.
Nearest-the-pin winners included Patrick Lim, Peter Chan, Sam Tan and Chow Weng-fook. C.S Cheah and S.Y. Chan each won a nearest-the-center honor.
