HSBC ¡®SPRING MEETING¡¯ BRINGS TAIWANESE ELITE TO SILPORT

 

Shanghai: The HSBC 2008 Spring Meeting of Taiwanese Businessmen drew the elite from the island province¡¯s local business community to Silport as some pretty good golf was contested over the North and West courses.

Playing under the New Peoria scoring system in sunny spring conditions, the 25-man field included Taiwanese elite identified as potential customers or partners for the London-based lender that has a history in China dating back to 1865.

Shen Shang-hui proved the dominant player of the day as the 15.6 handicap shot an 87 to win the low nett with a score of 71.4. He also finished second runner-up in the low gross and captured one of the two long drive honors with a blast of 250 yards on the West Co urse ninth.

The other big winner was Chen Guan-ming who shot his 9.6 handicap for a score of 10-over 82 and the low gross title. Also recognized was Lu Jun-hong who won the other long drive prize with a 250-yard hit on the North seventh.

Nearest-the-pin prizes went to Zeng Jian-zhi, Zhen Gren-ming, Liu Shi-ji and Zheng Zong-xian.
