Shanghai: A group of 54 teachers from the two campuses of the Shanghai American School (SAS) got a welcome break from excited students anticipating the upcoming summer holidays when they contested the SAS Golf Classic 2008.

Playing under a Scramble scoring format from a shotgun start over Silport’s North and West courses, a rainy start turned into a glorious sunny finish for the academics providing good conversation fodder for the post-game buffet.

With the setting sun providing a quiet and relaxing backdrop for the evening meal and prize presentation, numerous special awards, including the dubious “worst shot of the day”, were given out in this fun event.

SAS is one of the oldest international schools in the city with a history dating back to 1912. At present, it boasts more than 2,900 students from nearly 40 countries and regions, in addition to a faculty of 373, at its campuses in Puxi and Pudong.
