Shanghai: Silport concluded the sixth and final leg of its 2008 Junior Tournament with its championship finale played over the North and West courses under sunny but cool conditions.
The club's group of emerging young talent was evident in the 21 participants as Huang Yiyi shot the low score of the day with an impressive round of 83 to capture the girls gross champion prize for Division B. For good measure, she also added the nearest-the-pin prize to her haul as Zhang Xinyu (89) finished runner-up in the group.
Other honors among the girls saw Chen Shiwen (93) take the Division A top prize, while He Sifan topped Division C with a round of 99. Yei Li showed she is a player to watch as the youngster emerged the gross champion of Group D with a score of 51 over nine holes.
Hu Guangyao proved the best among the boys as he shot an 84 to claim the Division B title ahead of He Yihao (88). Yang Mengtao topped Division A with an 85, well ahead of runner-up Li Changhao (102). Other honors saw Wu Suowei win Division C with a round of 89, with Li Weizhe (104) the runner-up. Zhu Ruiqi won Division D with a score of 65 over nine holes, and Liu Zixu claimed the boy's nearest-the-pin prize.
With this being the last competition of the year, Silport marketing director and head professional Michael Dickie was on hand to present the prizes to the winners and to supply a David Leadbetter Golf Academy (DLGA) hat to each of the winners.
