Shanghai: The Suzhou branch of China Mobile demonstrated its appreciation of its VIP customers when it staged a Year-end Golf Invitational tournament at Silport for about 130 people over the North and West courses.

With the weather sunny but cool, the VIP guests had several ways to win the tournament either through the winning score – both nett and gross – or via the team matchplay award. In a hotly-contested race to see who would emerge the gross champion, Zhuo Yuteng claimed the honor with a round of 11-over 83, one stroke ahead of Yang Yujun. Zhang Ziyou was second runner-up, two shots off the pace.

The nett honor was also fiercely contest with Zhang Zhengwen, a six handicap, winning the nett champion of group A after shooting a 77 for a nett 71. Wang Shengting and Ms Cai Hong, both nine handicaps, each shot an 81 but it was the former claiming the runner-up honor by virtue of less putts on the last nine holes.

Lu Meijuan did win one for the women as the 10 handicap registered an 82 for a nett 72 and the group B nett honor. Chen Junqiu and Liao Daze were runner-up and second runner-up respectively.

In group C, Yu Zhenglong and Chen Junren both finished with a nett 73, but it was the former taking the prize by virtue of his lower handicap. Qiu Shiwei was second runner-up.

In the nett champion team category, it was Suzhou Team #2 (732) finishing on top, ahead of Wujiang Team #1 (788) and Kunshan Team #1 (831).

At the prize party afterwards where a live band entertained, an official from the China Mobile Suzhou branch explained the purpose of the party was to “pay a dividend” to its VIP customers. The China Mobile staff then sang a song for the guests, all of whom mainly came from Suzhou, expressing its promise of 100 percent satisfactory service.
