Shanghai: The wet weather proved of little consequence to Xie Jianzhou at the 2009 Suzhou Gotone VIP Golf Club Spring Challenge contested at Silport as the big hitter dominated the proceedings, winning three honors on the day.

Playing on the West and North course configuration, Xie topped the 50-man field with an impressive three-over 75 to capture the gross champion honor. During the course of his round he demonstrated he was strong on all fronts as he registered four birdies, tops on the day, and executed a 280-yard blast on the West Course ninth hole to claim the long-drive prize.

The nett champion honor proved a tougher fight as Yang Qiang, an 11 handicap, shot a gross 81 for nett 70 and the top prize. Yu Guorong finished runner-up with a nett 71 after a round of 83, beating Zhang Ziyou (nett 71) on account of his lower handicap.

With the rain continuing to fall, the after party provided welcome relief for the drenched field as prizes of a Swiss Army knife, Samsung MP4, IPOD MP3, Nokia mobile phone and a Zippo lighter, among others, were awarded.
