Golf Tournament Proves Homecoming for Shanghai Korean Expat Community

The local South Korean expat community was out in full force at Silport when Shanghai Journal and retailer Gubei Golf hosted The Third Tong Men Golf Reunion.

With the Shanghai Journal-Gubei Golf Cup featuring teams of six players from 10 top Korean universities, the annual event was akin to a homecoming as some participants were also Silport members.

Playing over the North and West courses in sunny but cool and windy conditions, the competition among the 60 participants proved intense as Inha University emerged the champion. With a cumulative score of 436 by the alumni of the Incheon-based university, a school founded by South Korea¡¯s first president Syngman Rhee, the stellar performance was 16 strokes better than runner-up Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Sung Kyun Kwan University and Han Yang University finished second and third runner-up respectively.

Kim Dae-kun proved the top player among the field as he shot an impressive 77 for the gross champion honor.
