Kobe Tops Table at ANA ¡®9 School¡¯ University Challenge

It was evident the competition for the Seventh Golf Championship for Nine Kansai Universities was going to be intense as organizers for the Ritsumeikan University team organized a regular practice schedule for the squad at Silport prior to the event.

Only weeks after All Nippon Airways staged a tournament at the club for alumni of six Tokyo universities, the carrier welcomed 88 locally-based Japanese from Kansai schools in the south-central area of Honshu Island.

With the number of teams expanding to nine this year with the addition of Kyoto Sangyo University, the event teed off in sunny conditions over the Center and East courses.

The ideal conditions proved agreeable for Kobe University as the squad topped the table to emerge the champion team ahead of Kwanse Gakuin. Do Shisha University was second runner-up, while the Ritsumeikan University team failed to capitalize on their heavy practice schedule and was third runner-up ahead of Kansai University.

Kuze Kenichi carded a round of 80 for the top individual honor.

At the prize presentation following the golf, the guests renewed acquaintances and a representative from each team sang their school song to much applause.
