Taking a break from the formalities of its Asia Pacific Customer Conference 2010, chemical giant Huntsman entertained about 85 of its guests and key personnel with a golf invitational day at Silport.
With the weather sunny but extremely cool, Paul Hulme, president of Huntsman Textile Effects, got the proceedings underway with his welcoming speech as the players enjoyed a cup of ginger tea to keep warm. Ron Gerard, Huntsman¡¯s senior vice president, environment, health and safety and manufacturing excellence, and Li Zhi Lin, president and general manager of Zhejiang Metecno New Building Panels, then hit the opening shots to start play.
Playing over the East and Center courses under a New New Peoria scoring format, Song Won proved the dominant player of the day when the 9.6 handicap shot an 81 for a nett 71.4 for the gross champion honor.
Zhou Chuan Gen was the nett champion after the 18 handicap shot a 90 for a nett 72, beating Oh Young Shin in a countback. Lane Ding, who won the long drive on the Center Course 9th hole with a hit of 240 yards, was second runner-up with a nett 73.
Also honored were Nam Dong-ki and D.H. Kim who had the lowest gross flight with an average of 92.5.
Seung Dong-han had the other longest drive with a 300-yard blast on the East Course ninth hole, and Liu De Feng and Lawrence Chu each won a nearest-the-pin prize.
Among the many lucky draw prizes awarded by Huntsman, a company which has its Asia Pacific Technology Centre in the Minhang Development Zone, were golf jackets, bags, swing and putting exercise equipment, among others.
