 Shanghai: Silport proved an excellent host venue for the fifth edition of the Kunshan Zhen Chuan Golf Club Captain Cup when about 110 players turned out to contest the annual event.
With the field made up of golf teams from around the Kunshan area, the event, as is the tradition, proved a changing of the guard as outgoing captain Ma Jun handed over the team flag over to new captain Pan Gang.
Despite Kunshan Star Automobile Service Co. offering a Mercedes-Benz for a hole-in-one, a prize that went unclaimed, some strong golfing performance were demonstrated in the sunny conditions as the players were split into either the Member Group or the Guest Group.
Playing over the North and West courses under a New New Peoria scoring format, Wang Sheng Ting proved the dominant player in the field as he fired a one-over 73 to claim the gross champion honor in the Member Group. Xu Jun won the nett champion title with a nett 73, followed by runner-up Wang Tao (74.2) and Jin Long (75.2).
The competition in the Guest Group was equally fierce as Liu Man Tian shot a 74 to claim the gross champion honor. Zhang Zheng Wen won the low nett with a nett 71.2, followed by runner-up Zhang Nai Bin (72.4) and Hou Xiao Dong (74.4).
Other prizes went to Xu Dong and Ma Jun who each won a long drive. Ma also claimed a nearest-the-pin along with Zheng Jie, Huang Ying Xiong and Chu Zhe Yi.
Su Qing Fa won the Gross No. 7 contest with a score of 83.
