Shanghai: The importance of protecting your skin while out on the course was driven home at the Silport Summer Members Invitational Cup when beauty care giant Nivea returned to sponsor the popular tournament for a fifth consecutive year.
With eight ¡°Nivea Sun Angels¡± in attendance promoting the company¡¯s lotions and new ¡°instant sun tan protection spray¡± product, Andrew Chang, managing director of Nivea Shanghai, and Silport general manager David Chen conducted the ceremonial tee shot under the extremely hot and sunny conditions.
Playing over the East and Center courses, Kong Qi kept his cool to card a 13-over 85 for the nett champion honor with a nett 70.6. Kawabata Kazuyo was runner-up, followed by Moon Sang-choi.
Chen Zhangning topped the 130-player field when the 8.4 handicap shot an 80 for the gross champion prize, while Liu Hui Ling was the ladies nett champion following a round of 95 for nett 73.4.
With the sun shining and the fairways firm, Shu Hai took advantage of the hard conditions to unleash a 300-yard blast on the Center Course ninth hole for the long-drive prize. You Wen An also won a long drive with a 230-yard hit on the East Course ninth hole.
Ren Wei Dong won the nearest-the-pin on the East Course third hole when he put his tee shot to within one foot of the flag, while Hong Guo Jin also claimed a prize by landing his shot within three feet of the hole on the Center Course eighth.
The success of the tournament was very much evident at the prize ceremony following the golf as many members remarked how much they had enjoyed the atmosphere of the event and the positive message it was promoting.
