 Shanghai: China Mobile GoTone made a welcome return to Silport when it hosted a qualifying round for its Suzhou members on an extremely hot and sunny day for a field of about 100 competitors.
With 10 teams competing, covering most of the different expat groups in the greater Suzhou area, the top four had the opportunity to advance to the Grand Final on September 20.
Playing over the Center and East course under USGA and local rules, the top eight gross scores from each team was counted toward the overall total score. When it was all over, the teams representing Suzhou Korea, Huanxia Golf, Taihu Golf and the Suzhou Business Association advanced to the mobile phone giant’s finale.
The Suzhou Foreigner Golf Society also came away a winner in capturing the Most Stylish Prize for its great fashion sense and enthusiastic team spirit.
At the award ceremony afterwards, both the organizers and golfers praised Silport for it excellent course conditions and good service. Marketing director Julia Zhang thanked those in attendance for their kind words and encouraged the golfers to visit Silport more as the club was now just 35 minutes away from Suzhou with the completion of the Suhu Expressway.
