Shanghai: The British Chamber of Commerce demonstrated the civil way to spend a Friday afternoon when it hosted its annual golf tournament at Silport under hot, sunny conditions.
With about 60 players teeing off over the Center and East courses, the field was able to keep well refreshed as a mobile Pimms cart saw to their refreshment needs.
Local golf pro Mark McGrail proved the dominant player of the day as his foursome featuring Marc Dawson, Alain Lejeune and Alsen Hsien won the Team Nett with nett score of 54.62 under the four man scramble format.
For good measure, Canadian McGrail unleashed a blast of 310 yards on the Center Course ninth hole for the longest drive award. David Flavell won the nearest-the-pin prize when he put his tee shot on the East Course third hole to within 2.5 feet of the pin.
At the evening barbeque following the golf, chamber executive director Philip Roebuck thanked Silport in his speech, along with main sponsor Michael Page International, Diageo, KPMG, Dunhill and Silport Golf Academy.
