 Shanghai: Golf education was the big winner at the final of the Remy Martin-SGCU Cup held at Silport as the event raised nearly 800,000 RMB through an auction for the cause.
After stormy skies cut short last year¡¯s event when funds were raised for the Sichuan earthquake survivors, it was relatively trouble-free this year. With 210 players contesting the final of the Shanghai Golf Charity Union under cloudy skies, the field was split into 12 teams with Group A playing over the West and North courses, and Group B on the Center and East Courses.
Enhance Anting emerged tops among the golf club teams as it won the Group A champion prize, while Xin Hong Qiao was first runner-up. In Group B, the Ryder Team took the champion honor, and Elite CEO Golf Club was runner-up.
Course knowledge proved no advantage for the Silport team as both the host club and Tianma Country Club were shut-out of the prizes.
At the reception following the golf, representatives from the Shanghai Golf Education Fund were presented with the money from the auction.
