 Shanghai:11 July 2011: 21 year-old Wu Tianyi held off a strong chasing pack to win the second Faldo Series Asia Championship of 2011 by one shot at the Shanghai Silport Golf Club. The victory qualified Wu for the sixth Faldo Series Asia Grand Final in March 2012.
Wu held a one shot lead over four other players after an opening one over par round of 73. Round two was also very closely contested, but Wu kept his nerve to record a level par round of 72 despite being pressurised by Lin Dinsheng who also went round in level par, the joint best round of the tournament. Lin also qualified for the Grand Final which Sir Nick Faldo will host at Mission Hills Golf Club in China next March by winning the Under-21 division.
The other winners of their age groups who will also be competing in the World Amateur Golf Ranking event in Shenzhen were Ryu Jae Hyeon (Boys＊ Under-16), Ma Jiamei (Girls＊ Under-21) and Choi Hyewon (Girls＊ Under-16).
Established in 1996, 35 Faldo Series tournaments now take place in 25 countries worldwide with over 5,000 golfers participating each year. Former winners include Rory McIlroy, Nick Dougherty, Marc Warren, John Parry, Melissa Reid, Florentyna Parker and Yani Tseng, all winners on Tour.

The 2011/2012 Faldo Series Asia schedule features a record 18 tournaments in 14 different countries including five in mainland China plus others in The Philippines, Vietnam, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Bahrain, Brunei, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Pakistan, Indonesia and Thailand. It concludes in March 2012 with the sixth Faldo Series Asia Grand Final, a World Amateur Golf Ranking event hosted by Faldo.
